We are seeking a highly qualified Locum Nurse Practitioner to provide essential general medicine services across California on a PRN basis. This role offers flexible scheduling, competitive compensation, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have served. In this role, you will conduct Compensation and Pension exams, as well as Separation Health Assessments, primarily through interview-based evaluations with some physical assessments. You will work independently, utilizing your expertise to support Veterans' benefits process without engaging in prescribing or treatment activities. This position is vital to our mission of supporting Veterans nationwide. Required Skills: Valid Nurse Practitioner license in California Experience in general medicine, family medicine, or internal medicine Familiarity with compensation and pension exam procedures preferred Strong interviewing and assessment skills Ability to work independently and follow standardized protocols Excellent communication and documentation skills Nice to Have Skills: Prior experience with VA or government-related medical assessments Knowledge of musculoskeletal or physical examination procedures Certification in occupational health or related fields Ability to adapt to rural and varied settings Preferred Education and Experience: Master's degree or higher in Nursing (MSN or DNP preferred) Minimum of 2 years clinical practice experience in general medicine Prior experience performing VA or compensation exams is highly desirable Other Requirements: Must reside within 50 miles of designated exam locations or have own office for certain sites Willingness to work PRN, with flexible days and hours (days, 4-8 hour shifts) Ability to travel locally as needed; travel reimbursements included in pay rate Quick credentialing and onboarding process Compliant with all applicable licensing and certification requirements This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a vital public service while benefiting from competitive pay of $402.00 per hour, with bonus incentives for completing training and first exams.
