From video to audio connections, to the most important of them all - human connection.The Accounting Manager will monitor the financial performance of the company and oversee the various financial, accounting, and human resource activities of the organization. This position is responsible for human resources, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash flow management, and coordinating accounting information with internal departments and external accountant advisors. Organization and proper substantiation is critical to each specific duty listed below:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Oversees the daily accounting activities including daily cash flow and the security of cash transactions; employee reimbursements; manual payroll checks; commission checks; the accounts payable process; and the accounts receivable process including client correspondence.Oversees the developing and administering company policies relating to all phases of human resources to include Recruitment and Selection, Compensation, Benefits and Rewards, Employee Relations, Safety and Security, Training and Development.Oversees HR and Accounting Generalist acting as a resource and guide for compliance and best practices.----Advises CEO on changes to California labor law, compliance issues, and general HR strategy.Oversees the payroll process.Reviews and approves accounts payable invoices for proper coding. Interfaces with other department management to ensure accurate coding of transactions and the validity and accuracy of revenue transactions.On a monthly basis, reconciles the bank account as well as credit card receipt reconciliations from a third party processor.Maintains oversight of the general ledger, including journal entries, month-end closings and prepares internal spreadsheets for management review and to communicate cash flow items to external CPA.Manage and oversee the initiation of borrowing activity, preparation and calculation of debt payment schedule.Preparation and filing of various non-income tax returns, such as business license renewal.Income tax, sales tax, and property tax compliance will be handled in conjunction with the company's external CPA.Handle and oversee submission of payments to taxing authorities based on directions from external CPA.Reviews and prepares of 1099MISC vendor data to be provided to the company's external CPA for preparation and filing.Gathers and prepares documents required to be provided to the company's external CPA to issue annual financial statements, sales tax, and income tax returns.Regulates and updates schedules of prepaid assets for various insurance policies.Communicates and coordinates accounting policies, practices, and procedures with department and company managers and officials, vendors, reporting agencies, clients, customers, and the public.Cross trains and supports accounts payable, accounts receivable, providing back up when needed.Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments.Maintains accounting files in compliance with records retention policy.Complete special assignments and any other ad hoc projects as requested by the Chief Executive Officer.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results. Dedication and being a team player is a priority.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a senior financial leadership position with thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles).Working knowledge of personnel and material management policies and procedures.Previous experience in effectively communicating with various departments and external vendors.Understanding of tax regulations and compliance.Experience in preparing financial and tax statements.Previous experience with Netsuite is preferred is a plusPrevious experience overseeing Human ResourcesBasic understanding of (or willingness to learn) California and Federal Labor laws including but, not limited to: Wage and hours laws, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, ACA, Title VII, ADEA, & Worker's Compensation.--Working knowledge of (or willingness to learn) California Employment Development Department reporting and compliance requirements.--LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Writes clearly and informatively; Presents numerical data effectively.
